Chocolate Gingerbread People


 


INGREDIENTS



  • 125 g butter

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 1/3 cup golden syrup

  • 23/4 cups plain flour

  • 2 tablespoons Cadbury Bournville Cocoa

  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten



  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Place the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a small saucepan. Stir over a low heat until the butter is melted. Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 10 minutes.


  2. Sift the flour, cocoa, bicarbonate of soda and ginger into a bowl. Pour the butter mixture and the beaten egg into the flour. Mix well.


  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface. Roll out to 5 mm thick. Cut out desired shapes using cookie cutters.


  4. Place on a greased or lined baking tray. Bake for 10 minutes.


  5. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely. Decorate with melted chocolate, icing and lollies.

Marbled Chocolate Slice - the kids are so proud of themselves after they have made this slice as it looks so good


Makes 15 pieces


Base



  • 180g butter
  • ¼ cup Cadbury Bournville Cocoa, sifted
  • ¾ cup caster sugar
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup plain flour, sifted


 



  1. Preheat oven to 170ºC conventional or 150ºC fan forced.


  2. Combine butter and cocoa in a saucepan and melt over medium heat.


  3. Remove from heat add sugar and eggs. Stir in flour and mix until combined. Press mixture into a baking paper lined 28cm x 18cm slab pan.


Topping



  • 250g cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup caster sugar extra
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 egg, extra



  1. Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add extra caster sugar, vanilla and extra egg. Pour over chocolate mixture and swirl through.


  2. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes or until skewer comes out clean when inserted into slice. Cool in pan and cut in

Fudge Caramel Apples



7 to 8 medium apples
2 tablespoons of butter
3 tablespoons of water
1/2 package of Kraft caramels
1/2 package of Kraft fudge's
1 cup of chopped nuts, optional
Candy sprinkles, optional


Wash apples and remove stems. Insert wooden skewers in stem of apples. In top of double boiler over hot water, heat butter and water until butter melts. Add caramels and fudge's, heat until melted. Dip apples one at a time in caramel mixture then nuts or candy and sit to dry on wax paper.

Add some sweetness to your chicken fingers. This is a wonderful recipe for the kids.

Ingredients

1 lb skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1/4 C. honey (slightly warmed)
1/4 C. water
1 C. crushed corn flakes

Directions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spray baking sheet with vegetable spray. Cut chicken breasts crosswise into strips 3/4 inch wide. In small bowl combine honey and water. Put corn flakes on a plate. Dip chicken strips in honey mixture then coat with corn flakes crumbs. Put on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, or until cooked at center, turning chicken over at halfway point.

Yield: 6 Servings.
