Sometimes supporting soldiers raises issues. Not often, but sometimes. My life is pretty much an open book to the soldiers I write to, not much goes on that they don't get told all about. This is probably largely because nothing much goes on in my cosy, happy life.
But what if something does happen? And what if it is not a good something? What if it is upsetting, disturbing or unbearably sad?
Recently, a child I know died. This was completely devasting for the family, and incredibly hard for everyone who knows them. I had menioned the famly in previous letters to soldiers, but I did not tell them about the death. I know at least one support website that says deployed troops have enough stuff to deal with, they don't need any extra bad news. I sort of agree with that. I didn't seriously consider telling most of the guys I support.
But in support, as with the rest of life, there are going to be people you connect with more strongly. One guy in particular has become a good friend. And sitting writing a jokey email to him, the day after a most heart-wrenching funeral, with tears streaming down my face, I couldn't help but feel that I was lying. I was extremely uncomfortable with it.
I'm not sure I did right.

The woman below has been booted offsite 3 times now and for some reason she keeps on getting new computer addresses and comes back. She was booted the first time for nasty type talk and then came back and we booted her for talking about warts on her vagina.
Tonight I had to boot her again. If anyone knows her, please tell her to keep the hell away from Milplace, she is NOT welcome here.
So if anyone wants to come and join, please do. Its brand spankin new, and has still got a lot of work to be done on hims.
