The Men of Pike
Posted December 3, 2010 by GillyGirl in Family & Home
THE MEN OF PIKE

They came from near and far away

The men of Pike to work that day

The afternoon shift way down deep

Beneath the mountains oh so steep

A long way in but further out

The afternoon shift sets about

A job not flash but hard and trying

A job that holds the risk of dying

From seventeen to sixty two

They start their shift to see it through

For one his first, for all their last

How could they know there’d be a blast?

For all at once no siren whining

Suddenly the worst in mining

Dust and rubble fill the air

A loader driver thrown clear

Just one other finds the light

The rest are hidden from our sight

And so we learn as news is spread

The news that mining families dread

It’s up at Pike there’s an explosion

Faces drop and hearts are frozen

Who, how many, where and why ----

Will they make it ---- will they die

Fathers, husbands, brothers, sons

Coasters, Kiwis, Aussies, Poms

Mates and friends who we are seeking

Methane gas from coal seams leaking

Vents exploded, phones unheeded

Level heads and strength are needed

The world above unites as one

To bring the missing to the sun

Rescue teams are standing by

As holes are drilled and experts try

To find a way that’s safe and sound

To rescue those beneath the ground

Could robots work where men are mortal

To pierce the dangers of that portal

But alas all effort fails

The darkness of the mine prevails

A second blast of rock and thunder

Hope and prayers are rent asunder

A nation weeps and Coasters mourn

Pike falls silent, dark, forlorn

A hole remains within the ground

Devoid of joy, of life, of sound

Another hole within the heart

Of those forever set apart

From those they loved who went to toil

Digging coal beneath the soil

Those who gave their lives that day

To work a shift for honest pay

They wait at rest within their mine

The men of Pike, the Twenty Nine

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Posted October 31, 2010 by GillyGirl in Health, Family & Home
You've no doubt heard about people who have been abducted and had their kidneys removed by black-market organ thieves.

My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago. I went to sleep and woke up with someone else's thighs. It was just that quick. The replacements had the texture of cooked oatmeal. Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine?
I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs.
Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my life in jeans.
And then the thieves struck again……

My butt was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they took pains to match my new rear-end to the thighs they had stuck me with earlier. But my new butt was attached at least three inches lower than my original! I realized I'd have to give up my jeans in favor of long skirts.

Two years ago I realized my arms had been switched. One morning I was fixing my hair and was horrified to see the flesh of my upper arm swing to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush. This was really getting scary - my body was being replaced one section at a time. What could they do to Me next?

When my poor neck suddenly disappeared and was replaced with a turkey neck, I decided to tell my story. Women of the world wake up and smell the coffee! Those 'plastic' surgeons are using REAL replacement body parts - stolen from you and Me! The next time someone you know has something 'lifted',
Look again - was it lifted from you?

THIS IS NOT A HOAX - This is happening to women everywhere every night.

WARN YOUR FRIENDS!

P.. S. Last year I thought someone had stolen my Boobs. I was lying in bed and they were gone!
But when I jumped out of bed, I was relieved to see that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I slept. Now I keep them hidden in my waistband.

I thought this was too 'important' not to pass on. Have a wonderful day - with a joy filled heart.
Always remember to Laugh!!
Helps the heart AND the wrinkles!!

P.P.S. Those same thieves just came into my closet and shrank my clothes!

How do they do that????

What are Military Supporters?
Posted September 23, 2010 by GillyGirl in Society
Military supporters are exactly what the phrase has said. We as people come from all walks of life, but we all come to this site with the same interests in mind; that is to support our military no matter what country they come from. We all have the same goals in common.

We are looking for trust in each other to act as adults and support the men and women who sacrifice their lives for others.

We are proud of our military and their families for all the sacrifices that are made every day.

We want people to be able to unwind, meet new friends, enjoy laughter, and still remain loyal for the reasons that we are here.

When signing up for military supporters, your profile participation and accuracy on your profile should be something true and honored by fellow friends.

Military supporters should be a place that everyone feels safe and comfortable. We all enjoy good laughs as well as showing our support.

Commitment does not come in the form of just comments, but appreciation of what our soldiers do and letting them know that. Some are facing the most horrific times in their lives; therefore, we as a group should be here to support all of our military families.

Please feel free to roam this site and add any suggestions that you may feel are appropriate. The site has come a long way and many groups are forming. The polls are here for fun and you can create your own at any time. We do ask that the materials are appropriate.

Please feel free to post an introduction of yourself so that we may get to know you. We are hoping to establish long time-committed people for the site that truly have their best intentions in mind for military families. It does not matter if you are Jewish, Christian, atheist, or any other believer in faith, it does matter that you support our troops.

Please pull up a seat and kick back and enjoy the loyalty that military supporters are committed to making. We are all humans and we all enjoy a good laugh as well as a good cry. This is a place where we can do both.

Reach out to the men and women in uniform that make a difference in our everyday life. We are not here to judge, criticize, or retaliate on politics.

We are here as one big family that supports our troops through the most toughest times. Please be a part of our mission to show support for the troops and their families through these difficult times. This does not mean we cannot laugh out or have a good time; this simply means that we support each other no matter what walk of life we come from.

Life is not a conspiracy theory, but a reality of what is going in the world. Whether for the war or against the war our troops deserve honor and respect, because it is they that give up so much in order for us to be able to laugh and continue in a free world.
