Memorial Day Weekend
Posted May 23, 2008 by Gatorade

Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone has a good and safe Memorial Day weekend.
So how many noticed that I didn't say happy.
I believe that Memorial Day is a time for reflection and rememberance. For some of us, while it is good for soul, I don't think it will be happy.
So while you are at a park or whatever, enjoying an extra day off from work, take a moment to remember the soldiers, sailors and airmen from the past, present and the one's to come.

Heading South (where are my socks!)
Posted January 13, 2008 by Gatorade

Hello one and all,

Work has decided that they need me to go to San Diego for 3 weeks. I am leaving first thing in the morning.

It won't be all bad. 12 hour days, 7 days a week. But that is ok really. If I am going to be away I might as well work my butt off and get paid for it.

As I was packing today though something is really bothering me. I CAN"T FIND MY SOCKS! If any of you find them please send them to me! lol

I am taking my laptop with me so I will beable to keep in touch with all!

That's what it takes to be a hero, a little gem of innocence inside you that makes you want to believe that there still exists a right and wrong, that decency will somehow triumph in the end.

Ever wonder what a day of life is like for a Gypsy??? In the old ages, they would have Wagons and Tents and such. But life for a modern day gypsy is a tad different. OK, I don't make a living by song and dance (but yes I do dance just don't make a living out of it). So here is a snapshot of a day in my life, a modern day gypsy

0530 - Alarm goes off (ARGH)

0540 - Stupid alarm goes off again! (Double ARGH)

0550 - Our Hero, yes the modern Gypsy (thats me ) finally gets up. Stumbles to the rest room. Thinks he should shave but decides it can wait another day. Finds his work clothes and quickly gets dressed.

0600 - Walks out into the brisk (ok, it is down right Cold!) Port Townsend air. The crew (or troop???) loads into the van and heads towards the nearest resturant for some much needed coffee.

0615 - Armed with a fresh cup of Joe, we head to the USS Neversail, or USNS Neversail or sometimes USCGC Neversail.

0630 - Loaded with wrenches and other tools of the trade our hero goes to work. Today was work in the Engineroom of a 600lb Steam Ship.

0715 (approx) - Our hero has managed to drag his knuckles across a hot steam pipe, smack his head 3 times, and hit his thumb once with a hammer, with the predictable results S*&%!

0930 - Time for a much needed coffee break. Runs to the nearest coffee pot, grabs another cup of Joe. Walks briskly (and no matter how hard I try I usually end up spilling half the cup all over me) to the smoking area.

0945 - Break time over. Back to hitting his head, smashing his thumb and ever so hard not to bang his knuckles anymore. By this time our hero has found 2 new Steam leaks, completely by accident, btw, steam really does burn!

1130 - Lunch Time! Grabs another cup of Joe and runs to the smoking area, since his clothes already has coffee stains on them he dosen't care anymore!

1200 - Back to work. Scratches his and wonders how he is ever going to keep the timeline that the boss has set out.

1400 - Coffee break! Wait for it, wait for it, yes he runs to the coffee pot for another cup of Joe and a smoke

1500 - Looks at his watch and realizes that if he had a real job his day would be over. But since he is a Gypsy and he has anything but a real job, back to turning more wrenches, banging his head and dragging his knuckles.

1600 - Wether it is time or not, gettting a cup of coffee!

1700 - Ok, our hero has had enough for the day! Cleans up his mess, put away his tools and gather ups the rest of the crew.

1730 - Back in Port Townsend. Grabs a Sandwhich and a bag of chips for dinner.

1745 - In his room at the Port Townsend Inn. Deciding of he should check his e-mail to see if his Sweetie left him something or just jump in the shower. The e-mail wins everytime.

1800 - Turns on MASH and is mad at himself because he keeps forgetting that it starts at 1700.

1900 - MASH is over, time to hit the rain locker.

2000 - Finally eats his dinner. Checks his e-mail.

2100 - Puts in a movie or turns on the History Channel. Grabs his book (this week its The DaVinci Code) and gets ready for sleep.

2300 - Wakes up with a start. Turns off the TV (or movie).

0130 - Wakes up with another start. Remembers he left a wrench in the overhead of the Engineroom.

0345 - Awakes again.

0530 - Alarm goes off (ARGH!)
